Featured in the LA Business Journal: Where Compassion Meets Excellence.

In May 2024, the Los Angeles Business Journal featured Hollywood Grooming and our Foundation in their annual Nonprofit & Corporate Citizenship Awards issue — recognizing more than two decades of mobile grooming and growing community impact across LA.

It was an honor to open the May 13, 2024 issue of the Los Angeles Business Journal and see our team featured in a full-page spread alongside other LA nonprofits recognized for community impact.

The headline said it all: "Hollywood Grooming: Where Compassion Meets Excellence."

From a single van to a fleet

The article traced our story back to September 2001, when Chuck and Yael started Go Hollywood Grooming with one small mobile spa van. Twenty-five years and a fleet later, what began as a small idea has flourished into a cornerstone of LA's pet community — and into something neither of them quite saw coming.

"Hollywood Grooming has been committed to supporting animals in need from the company's infancy, and has increased this commitment as the company has grown." — LA Business Journal, May 13, 2024

The Foundation in print

The LA Biz piece highlighted Hollywood Rescue Grooming Foundation's mission to expand impact beyond the families who can afford mobile grooming. It's important to Chuck and Yael that the Foundation reach every dog and cat who needs us — especially the ones in overcrowded LA shelters, the ones who belong to veterans and unhoused community members, and the ones whose adoption listings have been overlooked simply because no one brushed them out.

The article noted that our team volunteers at local animal shelters on a bi-monthly basis (we've since expanded to weekly — see our current programs). For each event, we deploy a fleet of mobile vans, professional groomer volunteers donate their day, and the shelter pays nothing.

Why this recognition matters

For a small nonprofit, a feature in the LA Business Journal is a watershed moment. It means more donors find us. It means more shelters reach out about partnership. It means more professional groomers in LA learn that they can donate their skills to animals who desperately need them.

Most of all, it validates what we've believed since day one: a clean coat changes a shelter pet's life. Not in some abstract way — in the very real way of going from a listing nobody clicks to a photo somebody adopts.

What's next

The 2024 recognition was just the beginning. In 2025, we were honored to be named Business Angel of the Year by the Los Angeles Business Journal — a designation reserved for companies creating extraordinary social impact in the LA community. (More on that in a future post.)

We're also expanding: more weekly shelter visits, more events outside LA (including New Jersey), and a much deeper commitment to our broader programs for veterans' pets, unhoused community members' pets, and disaster response.

Thank you to the LA Business Journal for the platform. And thank you to every donor, every volunteer groomer, and every shelter partner who made this story possible.
